Meditation Retreat Application Procedure

All Dhamma Earth (DE) locations share the same application form—except for Dhamma Earth Himalaya, which is only open during specific retreats.

📌 Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Read the Basic Guide
    ➤ Read the guideline: "Dhamma Companion" to prepare mentally for your learning journey in Dhamma Earth.

  2. Fill in the Application Form
    ➤Fill in the application form. Submit the form online.

  3. Wait for Confirmation
    Kindly wait for our reply regarding your application status.

  4. Plan Your Journey
    Once confirmed, arrange your travel and inform us of your arrival date and time.

DE-Kuching, DE-KL and DE-Penang, Malaysia are open to public for general meditation retreats whole year round. Kindly check their pages for more schedule info for specific retreats.
DE – Himalaya, Dhampus, Nepal IS NOT open to public for meditation retreats whole year round. Kindly check the DE-Himalaya page for retreat schedule info.
Bhikkhu = monk

Sāmanera = novice monk

Yogi = lay person/non-monastic

 Nun = female monastic

*** VASSA PERIOD – Please be informed that all bhikkhus, sāmaṇeras and nuns at Dhamma Earth observe Vassa and do not travel during Vassa period.  It is advisable that any bhikkhus, sāmaṇeras and nuns should come either before Vassa starts or after Vassa ends.
Temporary Ordination for Newcomers

If you are new and wish to ordain as a temporary Sāmaṇera (novice monk) or Sayalay (nun), you are required to undergo a 10-day observation period upon arrival.

During this time, you will participate as a lay meditator (yogi). After the observation period, your meditation teacher will assess your readiness and decide on your acceptance for temporary ordination.

🪷 To begin, please apply as a yogi. Once you arrive, you may express your intention to ordain directly to your respective meditation teacher.
